Muthukumar is working for his doctoral degree in the area of Power Generation from Ocean Waves, under the supervision of Dr.V. Jayashankar. He received his Masters’ degree from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He is a recipient of the AICTE National Doctoral Fellowship and is a  Selection Grade Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the College of Engineering, Guindy.
