He was the Head of the Laboratory from 1994 - 2007. Prof. Kumar  has a rich and varied experience of more than 20 years of teaching, R&D as well as consulting for the industry. His areas of interest comprise Signal Conditioning Circuits, Bio-medical Instrumentation, Virtual Instrumentation and Digital Signal Processing as applied to Instrumentation.

Dr. V. Jayashankar

He has been a member of the Measurements family since 2001. Dr. Jayashankar brings with him a wealth of experience and ideas from his earlier stint with the National Institute of Ocean Technology. His interests tend toward High Voltage Instrumentation, Partial Discharge Analysis and Special Techniques for analysis of voltage and current transformers. He took over as the Head of the Laboratory from July 2007, before handing over charge in 2010. He is presently on a sabbatical for a year.

He has been with the Measurements group at IIT Madras, since 2001, except for the period from 2007-210, when he was away at the University of Graz on a Post-Doctoral Fellowship. Dr. Boby completed his Masters’ and PhD from IIT Madras, specializing in Transducers and Signal Conditioning circuits. He joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Madras as an Assistant Professor in June 2010.

His interests are in the areas of Signal Conditioning, Instrumentation, Proximity Sensors, Pulse Oximetry as well as  Instrument Transformers.
